ASAP 340B Commends Sen. Cassidy's 340B Investigation, Urges Congress to Act

Washington, D.C. (April 24, 2025) – The Alliance to Save America's 340B Program (ASAP 340B) welcomes the comprehensive report released today by Senator Bill Cassidy, Chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, detailing findings from his years-long investigation into the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The senator’s investigation highlights what our broad partnership of Community Health Centers, patient advocates, and industry stakeholders has long recognized: the 340B program requires meaningful reform to fulfill its original mission of supporting true safety-net providers and the patients they serve.

"We commend Senator Cassidy for his thorough examination of how the 340B program operates today," said Thomas Johnson, Executive Director of ASAP 340B. “This report details how large hospital systems, PBMs, and corporate middlemen take advantage of the program – it is clear the time for meaningful reform is now. We strongly urge Congress to enact legislation that realigns the 340B program in the interest of true safety-net providers and the patients and communities they serve.”

We look forward to working with Senator Cassidy, members of Congress, and all stakeholders to advance thoughtful policy solutions that preserve the 340B program's integrity and ensure it works as Congress originally intended—to help make medicines and health care services more affordable for those who need them most.
