340B

The Alliance to Save America’s 340B Program is a partnership of community health centers, patient, provider, and consumer advocates, and leaders from the biopharmaceutical industry working to ensure the 340B program supports true safety-net providers and the communities they serve.

Congress created the 340B program over 30 years ago to help low-income and other vulnerable patients access more affordable medicines. Today, Community Health Centers rely on the program to serve their communities.

The 340B program should enable true safety-net providers to help low-income and other vulnerable patients access more affordable medicines and health care services.

But some entities that participate in the program, such as large, well-resourced hospitals, have taken advantage of the program’s lack of clarity at the expense of the patients that the program is meant to serve.

Now, the well-being of communities served by our country’s health care safety-net is at stake. Learn more about the problem and what solutions are urgently needed to ensure the long-term viability of the program.

The 340B program can and should be a force for good in the nation’s health care safety net.
